What Is the DIT (Directors in Training) program?
This program is an opportunity for 7th and 8th graders who are registered in CineMagic to gain leadership and management skills as assistants to the Song Captains and Directors.
They will be required to attend the DIT workshop in order to participate. DITs will be assigned working hours right before or right after their own performance rehearsals for easier participation/transportation and will receive community service hours for their time in the DIT program.
What Is a Song Captain?
A Song Captain is a parent volunteer who attends rehearsals. Their job is to: Supervise DITs (Directors in Training) in taking attendance, distributing name tags at each rehearsal, vocal warm-ups, and general decorum. Accept phone calls from parents to be communicated to the Directors re: absences etc. Correct minor behavior issues, in rehearsals. Assist directors as needed with music, choreography, and costumes. Make sure all printed materials are distributed. Sign off on DIT’s time cards at the end of each rehearsal.
Song Captains must attend the DIT/Song Captain workshop on Oct. 30th so that participants are clear about program expectations. (See below)
Time commitment is every week during your child’s rehearsal time. (This is a really fun job. You get a sneak peak of your child’s performance numbers and the DITs do most of the work!)
DIT /Song Captain Workshop Tue. Oct. 30th from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Song Captains will have the opportunity to meet their DITs and to understand the expectations of the DIT program.
Attendance is mandatory to participate in the DIT program. We will include "role playing", vocal warm-up instruction, job expectations AND THERE WILL BE PIZZA AND TREATS!
